Product: Do you know quince? It’s a fall fruit that grows in a manner quite like apples and pears but its similarities end there.
Quince is always eaten cooked, often in compote, jam, paste, jelly and in cakes.
Once the quince is cooked, it’s soft and tender, usually with a really lovely syrup from the cooking process.
- Peel and remove seeds from fruit. Cut them into pieces.
- Steam the quinces in a pressure cooker for 15 minutes
Because quince has high levels of pectin, it is a popular fruit for making preserves.
